<![CDATA[Bob's Creek 7/1]]>Thu, 02 Jul 2015 00:14:12 GMThttp://www.holsingersguideservice.com/blog-tripshatches/bobs-creek-71After practically two weeks of steady rain Bob's Creek was finally fishable again. My dad, my youngest son, and I headed out to Bob's Creek and the creek finally came down to a fishable level. The fishing was really good if you were using the goblin streamer that is. I landed 8 trout with the biggest one being the 19 incher in the picture. A lot of the streams in the area are still blown out from Saturday's big storm so we had to fish the headwaters today.

<![CDATA[6/13/15]]>Sun, 14 Jun 2015 02:13:36 GMThttp://www.holsingersguideservice.com/blog-tripshatches/61315I headed out to Yellow Creek early this morning and got to there at 6:30. I started out Czech nymphing waiting for some top water action to start. I picked one up on a little black stone fly nymph. Then about 7 am some trout started rising so I switched to dries. I put on the combination that has been working for me lately 14 Adams and 16 extended body Blue Wing Olive. I managed to pick up 5 more trout on the pair before they shut off at 8 and I needed to leave. It's about time to get the beetles and ants out and start slapping the water. ]]><![CDATA[Quick Trip To Bob's Creek]]>Wed, 10 Jun 2015 16:54:30 GMThttp://www.holsingersguideservice.com/blog-tripshatches/quick-trip-to-bobs-creekI had a nice little trip out too Bob's Creek this morning. I got a late start and didn't make out to the stream until 9:30. When I got there trout were already rising so I ditched my pan to fish nymphs and went with the dries. After trying a few different patterns I figured it out with a size 16 caddis. ib also dropped a 18 partridge and flash wet fly off it. All together Iin the combination I landed 13 in 2 hours of fishing. About half were stocked and half wild. A great day on the water.

<![CDATA[TripsĀ of 5/29 to 6/2]]>Tue, 09 Jun 2015 01:23:20 GMThttp://www.holsingersguideservice.com/blog-tripshatches/trips-of-529-to-62Fished with a client on Friday 5/29 on Yellow Creek and had a great day. We fished from 6:30 to 11:30 and he managed to land 12 trout. The morning started off with a lot of trout raising from 6:30 till around 8. We fished a tandem dry fly rig with a 14 Adams and a 16 BWO and picked up 6 on a mix of the two. After the hatch ended around 8 we headed downstream and switched to fishing nymphs. We put on a size 10 stonefly nymph and picked up another 6 trout.

I fished on Saturday evening on a stretch of the Frankstown Branch. I didn't go out till 8:15 pm hoping to hit the sulfur hatch but it never happened. Since nothing was coming off I switched gears and started fishing the Goblin Streamer. I started fishing it like a nymph and quickly picked up a 16 in wild brown. After that at about 9:15, well after dark, I moved into a deep hole and started stripping the streamer across the bottom of the hole when I hooked into a huge fish. The fish stripped off a bunch of line
