Local Water Guide Rates

For your best trout fishing opportunities, the fishing is best from March to October. Trout fishing slows down with the dropping water in the summer months of July and August. During these months, we switch to river fishing for smallmouth bass along with our trout fishing trips.
Your guided trip will be geared toward your needs and wants. Whether you are looking for a guided trip where you just want to see some new water, or you are looking for a full hands-on learning experience, we can meet your needs. I can instruct as much or as little as you would like to give you the most enjoyable time possible. We require a 50% deposit when booking a trip with the balance to be paid at the end of the trip. Full refund of deposit will be made when cancellation is made three weeks prior to the trip. |
Yellow Creek
Yellow Creek is one of my favorite waters to fish. This stream is home to a variety of hatches including, Early Brown Stoneflies, Blue Winged Olives, Blue and Red Quills, Quill Gordons, Hendricksons, Grannoms, March Browns, Light Cahills, Brown Caddis, Gray Fox, Tricos, Green Caddis, Slate Drakes, and of course its famed Green Drake Hatch around Memorial Day.
Yellow Creek is also home to a 1.25 mile stretch of Fly Fishing Only section with lots of other sections of stream open to fishing. With miles of fishable, water Yellow Creek offers different methods of fishing. You could be nymphing the plunge pools of the upper end of the stream or floating dries over the holes of the Fly Fishing Zone. Another option for your trip could be swinging wets through the riffles of the lower sections. With a mix of stocked trout, a healthy population of wild browns, and abundant aquatic insects combine to make for a great day on the water.

Bob's Creek
This great stream is one of the hidden gems of our area. The upper section of the stream is very mountainous and heavily canopied, which keeps the stream cool and carries lots of fish. Thanks to clubs like the Pavia Sportsmen-Bobs Creek Stream Guardians keeping the stream clean and doing habitat restoration projects along with raising trout in their co-operative nursery makes for a great fishery.
Low water makes for difficult fishing in the summer months, but early spring and the fall-winter months more than makes up for it. With miles of stream with beautiful sceneries this is a great fishery with ample fish to fish over when the water conditions are right

Frankstown Branch of the Juniata
The Frankstown Branch of the Juniata is an often overlooked stream by fly fisherman in our area. With a few great class A wild trout streams dumping their cold water into the river and combining that with a few nice hatches combines to create a nice combination for some good trout water. Fish may not be as abundant on this stream but the size of the fish you catch more than compensates for it. The stream is home to some really good hatches especially the sulfur hatch. In addition to that, the stream runs from East Freedom, Blair County to Petersburg in Huntingdon County, which allows for miles of accessible water.
Other Local Streams
Within miles of the shop, there are multiple other streams that are unnamed and lesser known but hold many trout. The limestone rich area of South-Central Pennsylvania is well known for its healthy trout populations and great hatches. A lot of these streams, however, are very weather dependent so if you're looking for a trip chasing natives in a mountain stream or wild browns in some nice Class A water, the opportunity may just be available to give one of them a try.
